Can I do this?

Missed the kick off, but my husband attended for me. I have been walking 3-4 days a week for over a year now, but at what I'd call a "leisurely pace". Usually walk 2-3 miles.

I've never been a runner so I am nervous as to whether I can really do this. I am seriously overweight and was inspired by the story in the paper of the woman who lost 98 pounds. I need to lose at least that.

My older sister, Pat, is another inspiration. She started running a little over a year ago -- lost 60 pounds and runs in 6 and 10K runs, often finishing first in her age group. So if she can do it....

I am looking forward to the friends I'll make through this adventure.

Sounds like we have some common goals... If I have to go to the bathroom during the marathon.... will you stand outside and watch where the baracades were?

Yes! You can do this...sibling rivalry can get you there! Seriously, I am 59 and I am here because of what I read about the 59 yr. old finishing last year. Also, it is very inspirational that your "older" sister has lost 60 lbs. from running. I say I want to lose 30 # trying to be realistic, but i would LOVE to lose 50#. We will do this whole thing...we will cross that finish line next October! Cheryl Jones (cjonesrun)
