The Jackson Bike Club members routinely send out emails to its membership saying "Hey, I'm leading a ride on such and such a date, starting at such and such a time and place. Join us if you'd like". That was the model I was working on -- an informal group who wants to buddy up when then they can, but for whatever reason are not now participating with Mark's group. If I have stepped on toes or offended anyone, please accept my apologies. My only intent was to provide some mechanism for folks who "were going through withdrawal," as I heard several times in Blogs and at the Halloween party, to keep in touch and in shape.
I hope that those who are training for the Blues or who intend to train for the Chicago Marathon in '08 will do so with Mark's group as there are many, many benefits to what he provides. I certainly do not want to compete with or take away from that. I was only offering this idea for those who chose not to participate in the Blues Marathon training and who may or may not be participating in Chicago 08 -- but even if they are planning on training for Chicago are waiting for that training to start in late January.

Cathy,
I totally understand what you are doing. Not all of us can afford the "small" amount at this time of year unless we are seriously training. I was unable to do the 6-8 miles required to train for the Blues so your suggestion is a great idea for me. Of course, I can hardly wait until January when MM starts up again because I will definitely be there! Thanks for trying to get a few of us together to keep us motivated until MM gets going again in preparation for Chicago '08. (Now, if I can just lose a few pounds before then! LOL)

Cathy,
Please know that the taking down the forum is related to tidying up the site and getting everything ready for 2008 Launch. We will be completely overhauling the website and are investing a lot of resources in making it even more user friendly and content rich.
It is our hope that MANY new groups of friends will continue to meet and experience a life change and that the community that developed over the 9 months will continue to flourish. Unfortunately, we are unable to facilitate that with our website after the training season is over.
I'm so glad you are continuing to train and are using your blog to continue your community connection, remember - those that blog jog!
